Famous Prague Bridges list

There is not only the Charles Bridge which crosses the Vltava River, there are other famous Prague bridges which mostly presents some architectural style and they can be taken as the work of art, for example Čechův Bridge, Legion Bridge, or Mánes Bridge.

Prague Bridges – Charles Bridge

The Charles Bridge was built during 14th and 15th century and was 621 metres long, 10 metres wide and there are 16 arches which bears it. The bridge is protected by tree bridge tower. There are about thirty statues and statuaries mostly in the Baroque style which are replaced by replicas in these days.

Čechův Bridge to Letná hill

The bridge was built at the beginning of the 20th century in order to make the Prague inner ring road. The bridge represents the connection between the Letná Park and the Prague Jewish Quarter. So you can see the Old-New Synagogue which stands for the most significant synagogue in here. The bridge was designed for example by Jank Koula, František Mencl, or Jiří Soukup. The famous Art Nouveau style is remarkable in here. There are a lot of streets which bear name of this famous writer and poet.

 

 

Prague Bridges – Legion Bridge

The bridge was constructed from 1899 to 1901 in order to replace the earlier one – Francis I Chain Bridge (which was built in 1841). The man who initialized it was a businessman Vojtěch Lana and the designer was Antonín Balšánek. The bridge is about 345 metres long and 16 metres wide and the architecture is under the influence of neo-Baroque and Art Nouveau style.

Mánes Bridge

The bridge represents the soul of Modernisms in the city of Prague. Mánes Bridge has been built three years and was finished in 1914 when WWI started. The designers of the bridge were Alois Nový, František Mencl or Mečislav Petrů. It is about 186 metres long and 16 metres wide.
